Since I didn't wear anything dressy for Valentine's Day, just pajamas or jeans (but NOT Pajama Jeans), here's something from a couple of days before. It's been an unusually warm winter, even for Florida. Now that the cold is actually here I am suffering! I hate cold weather ;_; Summer plzzz

This contest is very important to me - the Harry Potter Alliance does a lot of good work for important causes like this. And my work could potentially be seen by some truly awesome people, including Evanna Lynch, Harry and the Potters, Jason Alexander, and John and Hank Green...


♥ Last week I received a gorgeous Artist Andrea Little Mermaid Eco Tote in the mail, from a giveaway through Art School Grad, an amazing Etsy team that I belong to. I love mermaids (I used to be really into them and have a small collection), and I've recently started using tote bags for summer rather than a purse, so this giveaway was perfect timing! Andrea does beautiful work; you can see more here at www.artistandrea.com, or at her Etsy shop. ♥ The What I Wore Today Drawings group is putting out a book! So exciting, I love What I Wore Today and can't wait to get my hands on a copy... I'm thrilled that one of my drawings was selected to be in it:

♥ And I'm sure this is old news to anyone who is already a Björk fan, but I'm getting all worked up by her newest project, Biophilia. A couple of songs have been released already and I've been listening to Crystalline on repeat. I love the end.

Nubby Twiglet is a Portlandian graphic designer and blogger. As a freelancer, Nubby is booked solid and accepts commissions on a limited basis, busy girl - and blogs five days a week! Aside from her design projects, Nubby also shares photos, outfits, fashion and decor, link lists, and typography inspiration. 

Nubby brings her design style into every part of her life, from her home to her wardrobe. Black and white are her clothing colors of choice, occasionally accented a bright, punchy shade like red or yellow. She wears bold patterns, killer shoes, and even typography (a black HELVETICA word necklace makes frequent appearances). 

Like her work and her wardrobe, Nubby's home is designed with the same use of limited color and bold patterns. She truly lives an all-around aesthetically creative life.

Caitlin Shearer is an Australian artist whose work is full of romantically pretty things... mermaids, vintage starlets and dresses, flowers, night skies. I'm in love with her pencil and watercolor paintings. Her girls (and boys) are beauties, delicately drawn but striking in style. 

Her style and techniques are so individual; I especially like some of her recent work incorporating real pressed flowers (other paintings include embellishments like glitter and pearlescent paint). 

Besides being a favorite artist of mine, she is also quite fashionable and has been another of my favorite contributers to the What I Wore Today (Drawings Only) group on flickr. It seems she is just like a living version of one of her lovely painted girls.

This week's portrait is Xiaoxi (Nancy) Zhang of The Sea of Fertility, a fashion and illustration blog. I absolutely adore her style - both in drawing and in wardrobe! 

Nancy Z. illustrates people whose styles inspire her. Her drawings have a loose, sketchy watercolor feel to them, as if she made them right on the spot. Her use of pattern, color, and movement make each one much more than just a drawing, giving more of a feel for the wearer's own personality and presence. 

Her own wardrobe has the same playful feeling as her illustrations; she is adventurous in her style and unafraid to express herself! She makes the most interesting outfits look effortless. Nancy has an eye not only for what is beautiful, but for what is uniquely beautiful. Most inspiring!

I only recently found San's blog, but she's quickly become a favorite! It's fun and uplifting and never fails to make me smile. Aside from her art, San shares book/tv/music recommendations, links to neat things, cute outfits, and tutorials - she even does live drawing demos here on Ustream. 

She's also one of my favorite contributors to the What I Wore Today (Drawings Only) group. And she is just as cute and colorful as her drawings are!

Kaitlin Resler is the author of All This Happiness, a style blog full of pretty things like vintage dresses, red lipstick, stripes, cats, and movie-inspired fashion.

What I like about Kaitlin's blog is that it doesn't seem "presented". It's less serious fashion stuff, a little more quirky and friendly; it reads like a letter (or an email) from a friend. She sometimes includes thoughts on books and movies and characters that inspire her (I can particularly identify with her love for everyone's favorite wizard werewolf, Remus Lupin...), photos of delicious-looking sweets from the bakery where she works, the cats she finds along the way, and other fun things.

Plus she's gorgeous! And has excellent style.

speaking of lolita fashion - here is some inspiring work by Imai Kira, illustrator for Angelic Pretty (definitely my favorite lolita brand). i'm not typically into anime-styled art, but these are so charming and detailed, i love them. to draw cute girls in frilly dresses for a living... clearly this person has my dream job.
