Little Owl

I'm so excited to share this... my cousin and life-long friend Sharon is having a baby soon, and I was honored to be asked to paint something for her baby shower invitations!! Her shower is going to be book/owl themed and will probably be the cutest thing ever. This sweet baby owl is on top of a stack of Sharon's favorite childhood books. I can't wait to meet her little girl :)

100th Post: Tote Bags!

Totes are ready!

These are so much fun to make. Still working on the other designs, but for now here are these cuties. Cute animals. Forever. This also marks the 100th post on my new blog - a fitting celebration, I think!

Wednesday WIP: Tote Bags

Fun stuff - lately I've been working on tote bags! I've been converted, so much easier than a purse, and fun to put super cute things on. I've got plenty more in the works... you'll see them on Etsy soon!

Wednesday WIP: JaxHax Yoshi Mural

A mural I did for JaxHax Makerspace, Yoshi/Darwin/scientific illustration-themed for the classroom. I can technically call this a work in progress because it is still only 99.5% done... I still have to sign it! And add a few more tiny details here and there.

I love this place - though I am not a paying member (yet!) the open meetings on Tuesdays give me the opportunity to come and hang out with a bunch of smart, talented, and incredibly friendly people. My friend Bri (who I worked on another mural with, a fantastic one of mostly her own doing) and I will be painting much more on the walls of JaxHax soon... can't wait!

What I Wore Today: The Book!!

Yay!

Just a quick note this Wednesday: Gemma Correll's What I Wore Today book was officially released last week! Do take a look - it's full of lots of cute and stylish doodles from artists around the world (and me too!) *_* I'm watching the mail every day waiting for my copy to arrive...

Monday Mix: Arty Stuff

Some sketches I worked on during the first night of our monthly Arty. I think this is one of my most successful attempts at drawing young boys, with different faces even, without using references. Progress! These are for a collaboration with a friend.

I also worked on painting my (admittedly unused) roller skates:

Bats and sweets ♥_♥ Now I just have to learn to skate again... in the meantime I can't wait to finish these!

Friday Final: My Brawlentine

A little gift to my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. We play Smash Bros. together a lot, and "our" battle is King DeDeDe vs. Peach (in Smashville) - David's a troll, I like cute pink things, you know. The little Waddledee minion who threw the sticky bomb represents our dog, Polly. They're in cahoots together.

He wouldn't let me post it, but David drew me a Lady Rainicorn in My Little Pony style, complete with "I love you" in Korean. My boyfriend. Is best.

Hope you all had a beautiful day! I'll be back next week with some more serious work. Until then, have fun!

Monday Mix: Friendship is Magic

PONIES as human girls. Yep. Something fun as a break from working on serious stuff. Coincidentally these are almost in order of my favorites... though my very favorite is Fluttershy. Who's yours?

Monday Mix: Truly Varied

Neat things of note...

♥ These are astounding... Riusuke Fukahori's goldfish paintings:

♥ Recently there have been a couple of mentions of my Scariest People illustration of Mac Brunson (see jacksonville.com via Folio Weekly) - people wondering if Folio Weekly's inclusion of him on that list, along with my image of him red-faced and foaming at the mouth, is part of what's seemingly pushing him to leave First Baptist Church. I'll say what I said on Folio Weekly's post... being in a bright spotlight is not always flattering, you know!

On a lighter note: Yep, I need this. Bubbeline lovvvvee

I can't even tell you how much I love these: Mameshiba animated shorts. Mameshibaaaa!

And finally, the Alchemy juried show at Florida School of the Arts is coming up on January 26. On Friday I'll be posting my entry, but if you happen to be in the north/central Florida area, be sure to come by and see some amazing artwork by students, faculty, and alumni!
